BAHDH (Bachelor of Arts Honours Hindi) is a 148-credit undergraduate program offered by IGNOU’s School of Humanities. It is designed to provide in-depth knowledge of Hindi literature, linguistics, and philosophy.
BAHDH Subject Structure (2025)
The program is divided into six semesters, featuring Core Courses (CC), Discipline Specific Electives (DSE), and Generic Electives (GE).
Core Courses (6 Credits each):
BHDC 101/102: Introduction to Hindi Literature and its history.
BHDC 105–107: Focused study on specific periods or genres of Hindi literature.
BHDC 108–110: Advanced literary studies (Sem IV).
BHDC 111–114: Advanced topics including contemporary poetry and drama (Sem V & VI).
Key Subject Themes:
Linguistics: Definition, nature, and characteristics of Hindi and its dialects like Braj and Khari Boli.
Literature: Study of Chhayavad, Pragativad, and contemporary Hindi poetry.
Script: Standardization and history of the Devanagari script.
